MGD Girls` School is celebrating SCIENCE WEEK from 10th August to 14th August 2026 under the theme "Resourceful Innovators – From Waste to Wonder." The week is designed to move science beyond textbooks and encourage students to observe, question , innovate and create meaningful solutions to real life problems.
Students of Classes VI -IX and XI through a series of hands- on and experiential activities will explore how everyday waste and recyclable materials can be transformed into purposeful ideas and innovative solutions. They will be encouraged to look at their surrounding with a scientific eye, an inquiring mind and innovator’s perspective.
The celebration aims to nurture creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, sustainability and the confidence to innovate with resources available around them.
Day 1 – Monday (10th AUGUST 2026)
Waste to Wonder Challenge
(Classes VI–IX & XI)
The first day of the Science Week Celebration commenced with an engaging activity Titled - “Waste to Wonder Challenge”
Students identified real-life problems from their homes, school or surroundings and developed innovative solutions using only waste or recyclable materials. They presented creative models, prototypes and simple scientific innovations that demonstrated originality, sustainability and practical application of scientific concepts.
The highlight of the day was the enthusiastic participation of students across all the classes and the activity successfully encouraged students to look at everyday objects differently and demonstrated how scientific thinking can turn ordinary waste into purposeful and meaningful innovations.
Day 2 of Science Week 2026 focused on “Observe Like a Scientist”, engaging students of Classes VI–IX & XI in the Science Treasure Box activity.
Students selected everyday objects such as spoons, mirrors, spectacles, leaves, candles, pencils, and bags, and explored the properties, uses, and science behind them.
The activity encouraged students to observe closely, think scientifically, communicate their ideas, and discover the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Day 3 of Science Week 2026 brought science to life through practical learning in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and STEM laboratories.*
Students explored laboratory apparatus, observed demonstrations, and participated in hands-on activities, strengthening their understanding of scientific concepts and laboratory safety.
The highlight was the spirit of SEWA—students voluntarily cleaned the apparatus, beakers, and laboratory spaces after their activities, beautifully demonstrating that true learning also means caring for the spaces and resources we share.

Day 4 of Science Week 2026 encouraged students to explore how a simple question can become the starting point for a remarkable scientific discovery.
Students of Classes VII, VIII, IX and XI researched landmark discoveries and lesser-known scientific contributions, exploring the scientists behind them and their impact on society. Their work reflected genuine curiosity and a willingness to look beyond textbook knowledge.
Students of Class VI added a creative dimension by designing science-based puzzles and crosswords on topics including microorganisms, the respiratory system, space science, and scientists and their discoveries.
The activities strengthened research, communication, curiosity, and creative thinking, inspiring students to not only seek answers but also ask questions that can make a difference.
