Workshop on Rubrics of Classroom Dynamics

MGD Girls’ School hosted an enriching workshop on “Rubrics of Classroom Dynamics”on 28.6.25 led by Mrs. Anjana Handoo, PGT English and Head of Department of English. The session was designed to equip teachers with effective assessment tools, ensuring greater objectivity, transparency, and student engagement in classroom activities. The teachers were introduced to the concept and importance of rubrics in formative and summative assessments.They were trained on designing clear, criteria-based rubrics aligned with learning outcomes.

Workshop Highlights

1. Introduction to Rubrics:

Mrs. Handoo began with an energizing Ice breaker and an interactive discussion on traditional vs. rubric-based assessments. She highlighted how rubrics provide clarity and fairness in evaluating performance-based tasks like presentations, creative writing, group projects, and debates.

2. Types of Rubrics:

Teachers were guided through the structure of analytic and holistic rubrics, with real classroom examples for each.

3. Hands-on Activity:

Participants collaboratively designed rubrics for various activities—storytelling (Primary), debate (Middle School), and essay writing (Senior Secondary). The session encouraged cross-department collaboration and sharing of best practices.

4. Using Rubrics as Learning Tools:

The facilitator emphasized using rubrics not just for grading but as a feedback mechanism, helping students as well as teachers to self-assess and set goals for improvement.

5. Digital Integration:

Participants were introduced to tools like Kahoot for a Quiz on the presentation.
